“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power to the weak.” Isaiah 40:29

“Battles are fought in our minds every day. When we begin to feel the battle is just too difficult and want to give up, we must choose to resist negative thoughts and be determined to rise above our problems. We must decide that we’re not going to quit. When we’re bombarded with doubts and fears, we must take a stand and say: ‘I’ll never give up! God’s on my side. He loves me, and He’s helping me! I’m going to make it!”

– Joyce Meyers

Yes, we are bombarded with doubts and fears most days, but we need to learn to let go and  trust God. I know this is difficult, I personally struggle with letting go and trusting God . At night when I pray I say: God I trust in You, I know you will protect me, I know  you love me and I know you want what is best for me, but when morning comes doubts and fears try to take over, and most days I struggle to trust. I need to keep reminding myself that I am not in control, He is. I need to surrender to God not once but everyday, every time I feel the need to manipulate and control a situation and it’s outcome. I thank God for the battles in my mind, because with every battle there’s an opportunity to surrender, to get closer to God and to learn to trust Him.

God, I want to thank you for every opportunity you give me to get closer to You and to grow in faith. Amen.

Always With You

A friend of mine shared this beautiful song lyric on Instagram the other day – Blessings by Laura Story. Take a moment to read it, this song really spoke to me and I hope it speaks to you too. God Bless!

“We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
And all the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

‘Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom,
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your word is not enough
And all the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe ‘

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not,
This is not our home
It’s not our home

‘Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near

What if my greatest disappointments or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise” – Laura Story.

Get Up and Try Again

JOSHUA 1-9.jpg
“…Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

“When things go wrong do not think that all your efforts were in vain. Maybe it was all for the better; so smile … and try again!

It may be that your apparent failure becomes a magic door that will lead to a new happiness that you have never known before.

You may be weakened by the fight, but, do not consider yourself a loser … This does not mean defeat.

It is not worth wasting precious time in tears and sorrow. Stand up and face life again … and if you keep in mind the most important goal, your dreams will come true …

Learn from your mistakes, reap experiences from your pain, so one day you will say :
– Thank God , I dared to try again!”

– Unknown author, “Experimente Outra Vez” Original text in Portuguese

“God knows our situation; He will not judge us as if we had no difficulties to overcome. What matters is the sincerity and perseverance of our will to overcome them. We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.”

– C.S. Lewis

Please God, give us the courage to get up and try again. That we may learn the best way is not always the most apparent choice. That we learn to seek you and listen to your voice, not only today but always. Amen!

You Are Here

“You’re Always There for Me” by Joanna Fuchs

“When the world comes crashing in
And chaos rules my mind,
I turn my heart to you, Lord,
And pure, sweet peace I find.

You lift me out of trouble
You comfort me in pain;
You nourish, heal and cleanse me,
Like cool, refreshing rain.

In times of joy and bliss,
When things are going right,
You lift me even higher,
And fill me with delight.

You listen to my prayers;
You hear my every plea;
I’m safe because I know
You’re always there for me.”

Knock Knock – Who’s There?

God gives us innumerable opportunities… Have you stopped to consider the opportunities He is giving you right now? Maybe the opportunity is to start over, to leave behind any inadequate habits and start fresh. Moreover the opportunity might be for you to forgive someone who hurt you or maybe the person you need to forgive the most is yourself.

What choice are you going to make? How long are you going to mourn for something you lost? How long are you going to be stuck in the past, regretting the decisions and mistakes  you made? How about using every opportunity we have to grow, to learn, and foremost, to give ourselves the chance to turn the awful into the exceptional. If we decide to turn the page, we might find blank pages to write our future.

Knock knock!

Who’s there?

So when opportunity knocks are you going to open the door or are you going to walk away? The choice is always ours. Take advantage of opportunities in life, learn to use whatever it is that life is throwing at you to be a blessing in someone else’s lives.

“You must learn, you must let God teach you, that the only way to get rid of your past is to make a future out of it. God will waste nothing.”

– Phillips Brooks

“THEY do me wrong who say I come no more
When once I knock and fail to find you in;
For every day I stand outside your door
And bid you wake, and rise to fight and win.

Wail not for precious chances passed away!
Weep not for golden ages on the wane!
Each night I burn the records of the day–
At sunrise every soul is born again!

Dost thou behold thy lost youth all aghast?
Dost reel from righteous Retribution’s blow?
Then turn from blotted archives of the past
And find the future’s pages white as snow.

Art thou a mourner? Rouse thee from thy spell;
Art thou a sinner? Sins may be forgiven;
Each morning gives thee wings to flee from hell,
Each night a star to guide thy feet to heaven.

Laugh like a boy at splendors that have sped,
To vanished joys be blind and deaf and dumb;
My judgments seal the dead past with its dead,
But never bind a moment yet to come.

Though deep in mire, wring not your hands and weep;
I lend my arm to all who say “I can!”
No shame-faced outcast ever sank so deep
But yet might rise and be again a man!”

Chasing After Happiness

We are living in a difficult time.  Now more than ever, we are desperately seeking peace, love, friendship, appreciation, contentment, success and most important HAPPINESS. After all, who doesn’t want to live a happy life? The problem is, the places we search for happiness time and again will not lead us to real happiness. We have the wrong conception that “if only we had what that person has, or if only we lived in a different country, or if only we had more money or a different job” we would be happy. We tend to forget about the legitimate source of happiness, instead we concentrate on temporary streams of it.

We desire bigger houses, new relationships… and with every new acquisition, new “items” will be added to the list. We are never satisfied with what we have. We buy stuff that we can’t afford to impress others, to feel valued and to have the false sense of happiness. Steve Furtick says that “the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel”, the same can be said about comparing our happiness to everyone else’s happiness.

We want a friend, a boyfriend/girlfriend, a husband/wife as if they are responsible for making us happy. Yes, a meaningful relationship/friendship can contribute to our happiness, but we have to remember that they are not responsible for making us happy and vice versa.

We sell ourselves short in relationships and professionally because we are too afraid of passing the opportunity that is staring us in the face. After all, we don’t know if another opportunity will become aavailable. So we settle, convincing ourselves that this might be the only chance we will have to achieve our dreams.

In the midst of trying to find happiness, we need to remind ourselves that there is only one source of true happiness, and that is God. In the book The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer, he says: “The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One. Many ordinary treasures may be denied him, or if he is allowed to have them, the enjoyment of them will be so tempered that they will never be necessary to his happiness. Or if he must see them go, one after one, he will scarcely feel a sense of loss, for having the Source of all things he has in One all satisfaction, all pleasure, all delight. Whatever he may lose he has actually lost nothing, for he now has it all in One, and he has it purely, legitimately and forever.”

I hope that in your journey to finding happiness you discover that God is the only source of satisfaction, pleasure, and joy.

God Never Disappoints – Quotes

“Faith brings clarity. You stop asking why, and prepare for when. You accept that life’s biggest disappointments can become the greatest blessing; when one door closes, another opens. When it does, step through fearlessly! If you walk in faith, you will not get lost.”

– Carlos Wallace, Life Is Not Complicated-You are

“In the darkest of nights cling to the assurance that God loves you, that He always has advice for you, a path that you can tread and a solution to your problem–and you will experience that which you believe. God never disappoints anyone who places his trust in Him.”

– Basilea Schlink

“All the help that we need to succeed in life lies in God’s hands. Luckily for us, He is the only Man that never disappoints. However, you must do your best to not disappoint yourself on your own part.”

– Edmond Mbiaka

“If your hope disappoints you, it is the wrong kind of hope. You see, hope in God never disappoints, precisely because it is hope IN GOD. This means that hope placed in any other thing will always end up disappointing.”

– Paul David Tripp

“You are loved by the One who knows you best. God’s love will never disappoint you and never give up on you.”

– Rick Warren

When I Am Afraid

“The presence of fear does not mean you have no faith. Fear visits everyone. But make your fear a visitor and not a resident.”

Max Lucado

Hope you have a wonderful day today! Don’t let the fear you might be feeling today become a resident in you life. Trust God, He will guide you.

By Your Grace…

Many churches teach a gospel that is so hard to follow. ..

And when we struggle to stay on what they say is the right path…

We feel ashamed and end up staying away from the most important relationship we have, our relationship with God.

When I became a Christian, I felt so much pressure to get involved in church, to participate in ministries, to go to most of the services, go out and evangelize, even though that was very uncomfortable to me. It was like, now that you are a Christian, you have to get involved, and if you don’t, perhaps you are not a real Christian. That is how I felt for a long time, however our salvation is not based on our work:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast”

–  Ephesians 2:8-9

I felt that If I didn’t get involved, or participated in some of the activities at Church I would be letting God down, I would be less of a Christian. It took me some years to realize that this is not how God wants us to feel. He doesn’t want to pressure us into getting involved, and there is no list of good deeds that will make him love you more or less.

Attendance to church and participating in a particular ministry are not the most meaningful aspects of being a Christian, the relationship we have with the Father is! We don’t have to feel pressure to participate in any of the ministries at Church, we don’t have to feel guilt for missing a service. I believe that each one of us has a purpose in life, and we just need to figure out what our purpose in life is.

““What you are is God’s gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.”

– Hans Urs von Balthasar, Prayer

Dear God, please show us your purpose for our lives. It is our desire to be closer to you, to honor you with our work. Please show us which path to take, show us the desire of your heart. Amen
